Cape Town - Prince Harry and Meghan’s royal baby is on its way and everyone is wondering who the godparents will be.

Although Prince William and Prince Harry are pretty close, it’s reported that the Duke of Cambridge won’t be asked to be their baby’s godparent, according to Cosmopolitan.

“If Harry and Meghan take the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s lead in not choosing siblings as godparents for their children then I don’t think William will be chosen as godfather,” according to royal blog Tea Time with the Cambridges.

“I believe William and Catherine’s thought process when it came to their children’s godparents was to choose close friends and family who’d be in their lives but not as much as the baby’s uncle or aunt.

“This would give the baby a larger support system. But it’s also not unheard of for siblings to be chosen as godparents.

“For example, Prince Andrew is Prince Harry and Zara Tindall’s godfather. Ultimately, it’s just a waiting game to see how the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decide to choose their child’s godparents.”

Harry is godfather to a bunch of his friends’ children, including Florence van Custem (3) and Zallie Warren (2), while Meghan is godmother to her best friend Jessica Mulroney’s children Ivy (4), and seven-year-old twins Brian and John, Hello! reports.

The happy couple announced their pregnancy during their Australian tour last year. “Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019,” the palace announced.

“Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.”

Meghan is reportedly due in April, Town and Country Magazine reports.
