Dwayne Johnson's new comedy series will focus on his 'Forrest Gump-like childhood'

Cape Town – Ever wondered what Dwayne The Rock Johnson was like as a child, well now's the chance to find out.

A new NBC comedy series Young Rock will centre on Dwayne's early years from his childhood to wrestling superstardom.

Deadline reports that the announcement was made at the Winter Television Critics Association press tour.

According to the publication, the 47-year-old recorded a video in which he outlined what the show is about.

The series will see a young Rock wreaking havoc in the streets of Hawaii, from getting arrested every week to his family relocating to Nashville - where he continued to run wild.

The Jumanji star also shared the news on Instagram. He wrote: "Our new @NBC sitcom has been all my life in the making. Literally."
