It took a day, but the Council for Geoscience finally managed to pin down the alarming rumble or blast sound heard in Cape Town on Wednesday.
The council said the epicentre of the 1.4 magnitude earthquake was located along the Diep River area of Milnerton Rural at 17:37.
Milnerton Rural is a large piece of mostly built-up land, with wetlands and the river running through it past Dunoon, Table View and other suburbs north of Table Bay.
