Rose McGowan tells all in Being Brave

No stranger to controversy, feminist activist, actress, author, model and singer Rose McGowan (Scream, Charmed) initially declined to comment when The New York Times revealed in October 2017 she was part in an alleged sexual harassment case involving Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein – one of eight, with different women.

McGowan had previously alleged that Weinstein raped her in a hotel room during the Sundance Film Festival in 2007. Later, Time recognised McGowan as one of the Silence Breakers, the magazine’s Person Of The Year, for speaking out about sexual assault and harassment which is shockingly prevalent – although by no means limited to – the entertainment industry.

It’s a classic case of people – all right, men – who have power, and misuse it to intimidate and assault and coerce women who are often too afraid to speak up. It’s terrifying and isolating and so dreadfully abusive – emotionally as well as physically - especially when a woman believes she is alone in these experiences.
