With the coronavirus pandemic and many countries under lockdown at the moment, graduates all around the world are missing their big send-off. But Hollywood’s biggest stars are gearing up to celebrate the class of 2020.
On 16 May Graduate Together: America Honors the High School Class of 2020 will air on NBC, FOX, ABC and CBS and feature commencement addresses, inspirational vignettes and celebrity appearances and performances, reports E! News.
The Jonas Brothers, Yara Shahidi, H.E.R., Bad Bunny, Lena Waithe, Pharrell Williams, Loren Gray and LeBron James are just a few names attached to the project.
Further, Stephen Curry, Kevin Hart and Serena Williams are also teaming up for a rather special event this weekend.
The stars will speak at the 'Show Me Your Walk' event to honour graduates. The graduates have also been encouraged to send in clips of the walk they would’ve done on stage at their ceremonies.
Speaking to People, Kevin Hart said: "The best thing about graduation is the ability to say you did it and for people to actually applaud your accomplishment. You’re now in that world of an adult for real. You’re ready. You’ve done all that you were supposed to do to prepare for that next stage in life."
Serena Williams also commented: "I really want to give the message that we’re really proud to see what they’re doing. I definitely want to talk about goals and how it takes countless hours to reach a goal. I want to remind them that success is subjective... Success is what you make it, mostly."
The event will be livestreamed on YouTube and Twitter.
