Cape Town – Pay no attention to the rumours of the queen's retirement. Though Her Majesty turned 93 in April, she's had a very busy and productive year that included so much more than the Prince Andrew drama.
With the controversy surrounding the Duke of York and with Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan's ongoing battle with the tabloid press, many are saying the queen may step down and let Prince Charles take over after a tumultuous year – her "new annus horribilis" according to some royal commentators – but a spokesperson for the Prince of Wales recently squashed those rumours. "There are no plans for any change in arrangements at the age of 95 – or any other age," he said.
With that in mind, and in anticipation for what will be the monarch's 68th year on the throne, we take a look back at the queen's highlights of 2019. From another royal wedding to the birth of baby Archie, meeting Donald Trump and an encounter with a cheeky duck in Scotland, here are some of the queen's best – and sweetest – moments.
