Cape Town – On Monday, Elton John admitted he feels a "profound sense of obligation" to defend Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have supposedly tainted their reputation by boarding a jet to Nice with baby Archie. Many felt the environmentally-conscious royals were adding to their carbon footprint.
The private jet belonged to Elton John, who explained, "To support Prince Harry's commitment to the environment, we ensured their flight was carbon neutral, by making the appropriate contribution to Carbon Footprint."
The Rocket Man singer also urged the press to stop attacking the royal couple calling the "relentless and untrue assassinations on their character" distorted and subsequently "malicious".
Other celebs have recently come forward to support the couple as well, with Ellen Degeneres leading the pack. Ellen shared her experience of when she met the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
"Portia and I met Prince Harry and Meghan in England to talk about their work on wildlife conservation," she wrote on Twitter.
Describing the couple as "down-to-earth" and "compassionate", she continued, "Imagine being attacked for everything you do, when all you're trying to do is make the world better."

Pink, who's dealt with her fair share of mommy-shamers and trolls, also tweeted about the accusations against the couple. She called the press's constant attack on Meghan "the most public form of bullying".
"It's out of control," she said. "Let's all be a bit kinder, huh? Let's show our children that it's cool to be kind."
I’m happy to see people coming to the defense of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The way people treat her is the most public form of bullying I have seen in a while. It’s out of control. Let’s all be a bit kinder, huh? Let’s show our children that it’s cool to be kind.

The latest to comment is The Duchess of Sussex's long-time best friend, Jessica Mulroney, who went right for critics calling them "racist bullies" on Instagram.
"3 years of undeserved hate and abuse," she wrote. And with two definitive words said quite simply, "It's enough."
