Cape Town - Charles, Prince of Wales, celebrates the 50th anniversary of his investiture on 1 July.
His Royal Highness became The Prince of Wales at the age of nine but was formally invested when he was 20 in 1969. This makes him the longest serving Prince of Wales.
The heir to the throne and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, will mark the occasion with a trip to Wales. The royal couple will undertake a number of engagements.
Nearly 50 years ago, on 1st July 1969, Prince Charles was formally invested with the title of The Prince of Wales by The Queen.
