Miss Planet International 2020, which was scheduled to take place in Cambodia in May has been rescheduled for later this year.

The rescheduling of the pageant follows a number of major events across genres, cancelled or postponed because of the coronavirus.

Other pageants which have been cancelled, include Mr Gay World, and Miss Earth Liberia.

"Miss Planet International 2020 will be held at the Koh Pich Theater, on November 28th, in Phnom Penh, Kingdom of Cambodia," the pageant announced on social media on Tuesday.

The current titleholder is South Africa's Monique Best from George, and she has been on a year-long mission to spread her message of planetary conservation.

Monique, who is an aspiring international model and actress, will hold on to her title a little bit longer until she will be able to crown her successor in November.

According to pageant CEO, Pedro Francisco Marquez since the start of the year, various events across China, Europe and America have already been cancelled.
