Constance Gaanakgomo shares her harrowing experience at this year's Metro FM Music Awards and offers some advice for organisers to consider at the next go-around.
It takes me a lot to fully express my disappointment. As a writer in the industry for eight years, I've let things slide sometimes, trying to put myself in people's shoes, thinking about their brand reputations, and being the good child I was raised to be. But, what happened over the weekend at the Metro FM Awards really left a bad taste in my mouth.
Before I address a couple of things, I just want to remind you as a reader that I'm not voicing my disappointment because the other journalists and I wanted special treatment but because this has been happening for far too long in the industry, and maybe I've reached my boiling point.
