Johannesburg – The national costume segment of the Miss Universe pageant is always a sight to behold, as contestants from all around the world show off imaginative designs that serve as proud representations of who they are and where they are from.

While some may opt for costumes that are a little more reserved, countries like Vietnam and Malaysia are standing out with their over-the-top designs.

Why be a snack when you can be the whole meal? Miss Universe Malaysia, Shweta Sekhon, has chosen to show off Malaysia's Peranakan culture with a dress that includes an entire feast.

According to the New Straits Times, the costume combines elements of Malay, Chinese and Peranakan culture, and weighs a whopping 28kgs.

The food props include several traditional meals like Onde-Onde and Kuih Lapis.

Miss Universe Vietnam

Who could forget Miss Universe Vietnam 2018's Bánh Mì (bread) inspired national costume? We haven't, and we're pretty sure the country's 2019 contestant, Hoàng Thùy, will leave the same lasting impression with her dress.

The beauty queen will be hoping to wow judges with her iced-coffee inspired costume.

Iced coffee with condensed milk is a popular drink in Vietnam. According to Fox News, the outfit was designed by Tran Nguyen Minh Duc and features a bedazzled jumpsuit, a large spoon as a prop, a coffee filter headpiece and coffee cup skirt.
