Savanna and Showmax have partnered to launch the Laugh Africa Comedy Festival, which takes place between the 5th and 7th of April 2024 at the Sandton Convention Centre.

The three-day comedy fest will see 50 local and international acts across three stages, with American comedian Eddie Griffin headlining the line-up.

To ensure diversity, the comedy show will be performed in English, Setswana, Sepedi, IsiZulu, and Afrikaans and will feature various prominent South African comedians.

"We're redefining comedy festivals in South Africa," said creative director Stuart Taylor.

"This isn't just a show; it's a three-day journey through laughter, from local talents to international acts. There's something for everyone."

Local comedians to expect at the show include Celeste Ntuli, Trevor Gumbi, Tumi Morake, Chris Mapane, Mashabela, and Alfred Adriaan, among many others, with social media comedy content creators included in the line-up as well. South African TV presenter and actress Minnie Dlamini will also be roasted on one of the shows.

Kayla Hendricks, who is the senior brand manager of Savanna Premium Cider, highlighted the importance of giving local comedians a platform to do what they do best.

"Savanna Premium Cider has an incredible legacy of nurturing African comedy and is committed to elevating local comedic talent while bridging the gap between local and international comedy opportunities," she said.

Showmax, as the festival’s official streaming partner, will release a 13-part comedy stand-up series on its platform once the festival concludes.
