Cape Town - DJ Tira encouraged a teenager, who approached him outside his studio asking for an opportunity to work in the music industry, to go back to school.
The DJ posted a video on Twitter in which he talks to the young man about the importance of an education.
Currently in grade 8, the DJ urged the student to go back to school and focus on his studies.
He added that the teenager should bring his report card to him in December, and then they could discuss working together.
"Education first. Please please please. I bumped into this kid outside my studio. I gave him pocket money to travel back home. Lets encourage our kids to finish school before pursuing a music career," he captioned the video.
The internet has had mixed opinions on the DJ's actions with many mentioning local rapper Cassper Nyovest, who has received wide success without completing high school.
Others praised the DJ for emphasising the importance of education.
