'Never give up on your dreams' - Shabalala's grandchildren remember lessons from music icon

Joseph Shabalala's grandchildren opened up about their grief since losing the music icon, remembering the lessons he shared with them before his passing.

"Over the past week, we have cried over the passing of our grandfather. We were saddened that he is no longer with us. But, day by day, it has gotten better through the support and love shown by our family, relatives, friends, and all who knew him," a message delivered at Shabalala's funeral by his grandchildren stated.

The tribute continued: "He taught us a lot. He taught us respect, love, and never giving up on your dreams. We will never forget, and we will forever be grateful for his life, and pray our family never forgets all the things he believed in and stood for."

Shabalala, who founded renowned group Ladysmith Black Mambazo, died on 11 February 2020.
