LISTEN: Steven Lee Lewis releases first solo single post Four split

Johannesburg – After the split of X Factor winners Four, Steven Lee Lewis has once again established himself as a solo act, releasing his first single after waving goodbye to his former group members.

The singer debuted his song Only You on Friday, calling it more than just your "typical" kind of love song in an interview with The Juice

Take a look at below:

Who wrote the song?

I wrote the song and Kyle Mitas produced it.

What is your writing process?

My writing process is simple - I first must feel inspired, I close my eyes with the music really loud and I let it guide me to the lyrics.

What inspired this track?

This particular track I had an idea… I wanted something fresh and current, so I spoke to the producer about how I wanted the sound and feel. When he sent me the idea back I was super excited.

What is the message behind the song?

The song is all about that one special person out there who you are almost addicted to and makes your heart pound whenever you are in the same room together. But it’s far more than just the typical ‘I only have eyes for you’ kind of love song. It’s that person who is also your best friend, who you can be romantic with, but at the same time also just be comfortably silly, funny and yourself with.

What was it like working on a solo project after being with Four for so long?

Well it wasn’t entirely new because remember I’ve been in the industry for a long time and before Four I was a solo artist. But the process of this solo project is so exciting, I feel reborn and ready to take over the world. I can’t wait to share my music and my story with everyone.

Should fans expect an album?

Definitely! But not in the very near future. I first want to grow my brand and release a few more singles. So they can expect lots of music from me… with an album in the future.
