Cape Town - Former rugby player Derick Hougaard wished his twin sons a happy birthday with a sweet message on Twitter.
The 35-year-old shares custody of his sons with ex-wife, Afrikaans singer Karlien van Jaarsveld.
Karlien made several shocking allegations against Derick last week, following a very public spat where she reported her children "missing" while they were in their father's care. (Read more here)

Despite the very public battle between the former spouses, Derick has taken to the social media to wish his boys well on their special day, and to tell his followers how much his sons mean to him.
"Congratulations to the best and the toughest men I know. Daniël and Eliah. Even though you are only five years old today. I already have respect for you, and I am so proud of you," he writes on Twitter.
"One day you'll understand love like daddy does today. Happy birthday," he adds.
He ends the post with several celebratory emojis.
