Former Isidingo actors Simphiwe Ngema and Motlatsi Mafatshe, better known by his character name Sechaba, will be joining the cast of SABC2’s drama series Bone of my Bones.

SABC publicist Lebo Malete confirmed that they’re joining the drama series. She tells Move! That Motlatsi replaces Aubrey Poo to play the role of Karabo who is still together with Thembi.

The pair joins this drama following the cancellation of SABC3’s soapie Isidingo after 21 years on air due to poor viewership and low revenue, according to the broadcaster.

Simphiwe excitedly shared the news on her Instagram page but was quite thin with the details.

“So blessed to be part of this production. We’ve said goodbye to Phindi, it’s almost time to say hello to Ruth! Can’t wait for you guys to meet her,” she shared.

Lebo says Ruth is a music producer who used to go to high school with everyone in the story. She comes back from working overseas for the last decade and settles in with her friends Thembi and Keitumetsi. Before she went overseas, she used to date Kgotso back in high school and she ended things with him abruptly and vanished, leaving Kgotso with many questions but few answers.

“So her return is a bit awkward because her friend Keitumetsi has since married Kgotso and left him for Thabiuso. This becomes more complicated when Kgotso asks Ruth if they can continue where they left off but the big secret of why she left him in the first place 20 years back seems to a treat to their future. All the while she becomes key in Karabo and Thembi’s music career as she produces his album and gets to be his manager,” Lebo reveals.

“The series is controlled by a universal theme: LOVE. We have all been in love or at least know people that have been. The four leading characters are all in different relationships and throughout the series we get to explore their journeys, where viewers will identify with their struggles, fears and victories. Even relationships that are born in heaven sometimes go through hell. We also have an amazing cast which viewers will enjoy,” executive producer NZB Majola Ka Masuku explained.

The star-studded show which premiered in 2017 is coming for its second season and it starts Thursdays 9 April 2020 at 9pm.
