The number of COVID-19 cases increases by the day in South Africa and this only means that more healthcare workers will be risking their lives, helping those who have been infected.

Award-winning gospel artist, Dr Tumi, has now joined these healthcare workers in helping South Africans fight against the growing virus.

“Hi fam. I want to play a part in helping our government with the fight against CORONAVIRUS”, he tweeted.

Dr Tumi, whose full name is Tumišang Makweya, studied medicine for six years at the Medical University of Southern Africa (MENDUSA).

His tweet comes in a subtle response to DJ Cleo’s tweet which accused him of not being a real doctor. The ‘Facebook’ hitmaker called on all doctors to be on standby and then continued to write a list of honorary and self-proclaimed doctors, adding Dr. Tumi to that list.

Unfortunately for the DJ, his tweet was proven to not be accurate by Dr Tumi, and a number of fans, proving that he is a qualified doctor.

Tweeps showed their appreciation for the singer-songwriter's pledge in a series of responses.

The multi-platinum artist also confirmed that he will be releasing a song after a fan asked him to, as a form of comfort.
