Cape Town - There's no doubt that South Africans were left shattered by Metro FM’s decision to terminate DJ Fresh’s contract but thankfully all is not lost for the die hard fans of the show, DJ Fresh will be have a "new show" from 1 August.
While we wait for then, here are five breakfast shows you can tune into from anywhere in the country either from your stereo or through a radio app.
1. Phat Joe and the Family on Radio 2000
Phat Joe and the Family is a 3-hour breakfast show airing between 06:00 and 09:00; Monday to Friday.
The show is hosted by Phat Joe and he co-presents with Nonala Tose, who has worked for Umhlobo Wenene and 5FM. The station was nominated for an MTN Radio Awards.
2. East Coast Breakfast with Darren Maule on East Coast Radio
The show is hosted by Darren Maule and airs between 06:00 and 09:00; Monday-Friday.
The show was named Best Breakfast Show at the 2019 Liberty Radio Awards. East Coast Radio is a provincial station, based in KwaZulu-Natal.
3. Mansfield In The Morning on Hot FM 91.1
The show is hosted by Jeremy Mansfield together with Sam Cowen.
The show won the Best community radio station at the Liberty Radio Awards for 2019.
4. Monate Breakfast Show Lesedi FM
The show is hosted by Skuzabell and Twasa, who is a former Jam Alley presenter.
The show won the Best Breakfast show at the Liberty Awards in the PBS category. The shows airs between 06:30 and 09:00; weekdays.
5. The Tuks FM Breakfast show on Tuks FM
They are a campus radio station that airs between 06:00 and 09:00 and is on weekdays.
Tuks FM was established in 1981 as a student radio station of the University of Pretoria. They won the Campus Breakfast Show award at the Liberty Awards in 2019.
