Daniella might not have gotten a rose, but she’s definitely found herself.

The 25-year-old from Cape Town has spoken openly about her past toxic relationship and the aftermath she’s had to deal with.

However, when she felt ready to get back into the dating scene, the business owner saw The Bachelor SA as a great stepping stone – and she’s not going home empty-handed, she said.

Speaking to YOU magazine, Daniella said she believed asking Marc how he felt about her did scupper her chances with him.

Although it didn’t go her way, she still feels it was important for her to know exactly how he felt at that stage in the competition, especially after being vulnerable with him.

"I feel like we [were] at that stage in the competition where you either feel something for someone or you don’t and you’ve spent enough time to know if you have those butterflies for that person, you do know whether you’re interested or if you’re not," Daniella said.

The young woman undeniably counts her losses, saying she felt infatuated with Marc because of his handsome looks, however, their "surface-level" conversations set the tone for where their relationship was headed.

But she said her experience has got her out of her comfort zone, which has helped her gain a lot of confidence.

"I feel confident in myself as a woman [and] confident enough not to approach a man.

"I still feel a man should be a gentleman and I would still like a man to romance me and make the first move.

"But if I do see that I’m liking someone and I want to make a connection with someone, I’m not afraid to make that first move. But I would [prefer] if he did," she said.

Speaking on what she’d choose to say to Marc if she got a chance to do so outside of the show, Danielle said she wasn’t bitter about the relationship not working out.

"I really would just say to him: 'I hope you’re happy. I genuinely hope you’re happy and I hope this experience makes you find your happily ever after.' And if it didn’t I really do hope that he does find his happily ever after."

As she sends well wishes to the man who could’ve been her Prince Charming, Danielle is feeling optimistic. She still believes in love and is ready to take on whatever life may throw at her.
