We got a sneaky first look at season 2 of The Wedding Bashers and here’s what we can tell you!

Limpopo – The M-Net original wedding show, The Wedding Bashers will return for a second season and promises to be bigger and better than before.

Season two kicks off with four special episodes titled The Wedding Bashers Specials…With Love which will air from Sunday, 29 April at 18:00 on M-Net (DStv 101).

During these four episodes the bashers will put their money where their mouths are as they plan four dream weddings for four different couples.

Channel24 was treated to an exclusive screening of the first episode at M-Net’s Local Content Showcase in Limpopo on Monday.

While we can’t reveal too much we can say that viewers have to get ready to have their heartstrings tugged.

After the screening, executive producer Gavin Wratten and three of the bashers Denise Zimba, Zola Nene and Bernelee Daniell sat down for a question and answer session.

GIVING BACK

The idea for the four special episodes was birthed at last year’s finale when the winning couple said they wanted to give some of their prize money to a friend who had a hard time trying to get her wedding going.

Speaking about the process Wratten says that they did a low-key call to action on social media for couples who were looking for some assistance with their weddings.

“When we went through all the entries we weren’t necessarily looking for couples who were going to tug at the heartstrings the most, but instead interesting couples that have interesting stories. We were looking for couples with a really nice love story,” says Gavin.

THE NEWBIES

Joining Zavion Kotze and Denise Zimba this season is renowned chef Zola Nene who will be sharing her thoughts on the culinary experience. Former Miss South Africa Bernelee Daniell will also join the team as the new fashionista.

Due to logistical reasons Siba Mtongona and Cindy Nell could not return for the new season.

“When went through quiet a lot of names and as we whittled them down the two ladies here fit the mould perfectly,” says Gavin.

Zola says that she loves weddings and was excited to be part of it. “When they called me and said listen the wedding… I said I am in!”

She added; “The most challenging thing was coming into a group that already existed. You don’t know what the dynamics were going to be like. But I am really proud to say that we gelled from the first day, we laughed every single day.”

BIGGER AND BETTER

Season 2 of The Wedding Bashers will have 17 episodes including a spectacular finale. The season will also feature one wedding per episode instead of two per episode like in the previous season.

And lastly there will be a leader-board to keep track of the top weddings that will go through to the final.
