Cape Town – In the latter half of last year streaming giant Netflix released the first images from it's Pearl Thusi led series, Queen Sono, and it got everyone talking.
The six-episode series about local espionage – with Pearl in the titular role - was written and directed by Kagiso Lediga, who received critical acclaim last year for his work on the film Matwetwe.
Now to keep viewers salivating ahead of its 28 February release Netflix has released the first full trailer. In it, we get a look at other series regular Rob Van Vuuren and Kate Liquorish who plays Ekaterina, an heiress of an oligarch family with ulterior motives.
The official synopsis is: "After the assassination of her mother, Queen Sono grows up to become a kick-asss yet unconventional spy devoted to protecting the people of Africa. During a dangerous field assignment, Queen unknowingly uncovers shocking details about her mother's death, sparking her own truth-finding mission."

The series was filmed over eight weeks in 37 different locations across Africa, including the Johannesburg CBD, Sandton, Park Station, Soweto, Lagos, Kenya and Zanzibar.
