'Vampire Diaries' stars Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley used to 'despise' each other

Cape Town – They might have played lovers on screen, but Vampire Diaries stars Nina Dobrev, and Paul Wesley couldn't stand each other.

The pair played Elena Gilbert and Stefan Salvatore on the long-running CW show which ended in 2017.

Nina revealed on the podcast Directionally Challenged hosted by co-stars Candice King and Kayla Ewell that her and Paul initially didn't get along, reports E Online.

She went on to say that she respected Paul, but didn't like him. Everyone thought that they were dating in real life because they had such good chemistry.

"And we despised each other so much, that it read as love. We really just didn't get along the first maybe five months of shooting, said Nina.

But it seems like they grew to like each other as Nina revealed that they are now good friends and hang out a lot.
