Cape Town - Fans of evening soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful are fighting for the show to stay on air in South Africa after SABC 3 confirmed that they are currently considering taking it off air.

The fans, who have spent years watching the Forresters, the Spencers and their love triangles and business dealings in the fashion industry in Los Angeles, created a petition to save their all-time favourite show.

One of the die-hard fans of the show, Dean Kotze created a petition on change.org to save The Bold and the Beautiful from cancellation,

"Please join me in getting the SABC to reconsider their decision to cancel The Bold and The Beautiful! We need to stand together to save our favourite show! Please do not remove one of the world's best soaps from our screens," Dean wrote.

There’s currently 14 signatures on the petition and Dean is encouraging more people to join to reach 100 signatures.

This petition is due to an announcement made by tvplus recently on their Facebook page that the SABC3 show is going off air. Speaking to DRUM the SABC 3 coordinator Doulha Domingo said there are talks of the cancellation, but it is not yet finalised.

"The ultimate decision will not come from the channel but from SABC cooperate and we will keep our viewers updated on the process as it continues," she said.

The SABC has been broadcasting The Bold and the Beautiful for over two decades now and fans are deeply saddened and have also added their disappointment in the comment box of the petition page.

"I have watched the Bold and the Beautiful since its inception. I love the show as do millions of viewers around the world. It's the No. 1 soapie. Please do not cancel this great soapie," wrote Susan Darling.

Brandon van Reenen also shared his opinion on the matter: "The SABC would be stupid to do this whether I follow the show or not."
