Cape Town - The queen of the north has spoken – and she’s not tolerating the “disrespectful” fans who are petitioning for a Game of Thrones final season remake.

Speaking to The New York Times, Sophie Turner admitted while she wasn’t exactly surprised by viewers’ reaction, calling for a remake is taking it too far.

“Honestly, I’m not surprised. People always have an idea in their heads of how they want a show to finish and so when it doesn’t go to their liking, they start to speak up about it and rebel,” the 23-year-old says.

"All of these petitions and things like that, I think it’s disrespectful to the crew and the writers and the filmmakers who have worked tirelessly over 10 years and for 11 months shooting the last season.

"Like 50-something night shoots. So many people worked so, so hard on it and for people to just rubbish it because it’s not what they want to see is just disrespectful."

The petition was created before the season eight finale and garnered more than one million signatures. It demands a re-creation of the HBO series with “competent writers”, PEOPLE reports.

“[Showrunners] David Beinoff and D.B Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on,” the bold petition creator wrote.

“The series deserves a final season that makes sense. Subvert my expectations and make it happen HBO!”

In Sunday night’s finale of the Emmy Award-winning series, Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington) kills Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke). The lords and ladies of Westeros choose a new king, Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) while Sansa (Turner) convinces her brother to make the North its own kingdom and takes the throne as queen.

Fans might have disliked the show’s ending, but Sophie loved it.

"I loved it. It's the only place that she really, truly feels safe," she said of Sansa's storyline. "It's the place that she's the most capable of ruling. She would be a fair and loving ruler and it’s what she’s been striving for this whole series: to go back home, to protect her home. And finally she has that."
