For four years she played the role of strong-willed businesswoman Tshidi Phakade on SABC1 soapie Generations: The Legacy.

But actor's fatigue got the best of singer and sangoma Letoya Makhene and she left the show to take time out and pursue her singing career. Emotions flared when she performed her last scene and they thought that was the last of her. But Letoya’s character makes an astonishing return after faking her own death to escape Jack Mabaso.

Only two people knew she was alive all along, her mother, Gog’Zondiwe and Sphe. She is back to reclaim her life and has a plan for Jack. After grieving the loss of his wife, Tshidi's husband, Gadaffi finally committed to another woman and battles with forgiving Tshidi.

In a previous interview with DRUM, Letoya said playing Tshidi made her a better person.

"Having the patience to wake up and be at work at 6am every morning brought me a sense of gratitude. The directors, cast, and crew respected me, and I respected them."

But she needed time away from the show.

"While away I’ve worked on my spirituality, I had more time for my family and my music," she said.

Letoya recently released her single, Qinisela, and found love again. She has also given her time and started a soup kitchen through her foundation and handed out food parcels to help those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
