Iman Rappetti returns to eNCA to front new weekly talk show

Cape Town – Iman Rappetti is returning to eNCA (DStv 403) a year and a half after she left as NewsNight anchor and to host a new weekly talk show entitled Madam Speaker.

Madam Speaker will start on Thursday, 22 November at 21:30.

Rappetti left eNCA in April 2017 and has since been a radio presenter on Power 98.7 and wrote her moving memoir, Becoming Iman.

In Madam Speaker, eNCA says Rappetti will "put newsmakers through their paces in front of a small group of ordinary South Africans".

"After her interrogation, the audience panel will have their chance to put their questions forward and state their views." eNCA is currently looking for audience panel members.

Weekly topics on Madam Speaker will range from politics and the economy to pressing social issues as well as arts and culture and religion. eNCA says the idea is to give South African citizens a chance to hear first-hand how real problems are being dealt with at the highest level and the opportunity to talk back.

"Iman is a well-known face on the station and among the most accomplished talk show hosts in the country. She brings with her high energy, huge empathy and a real understanding of the daily battles South Africans are undergoing and for which they are demanding answers and accountability," says Mapi Mhlangu,eNCA editor-in-chief.

Rappetti says "While I will continue with my work on radio, television broadcasting is in my blood, and I look forward to this exciting weekly interchange where South Africans can state their case first hand and press for answers on issues impacting on their lives.

"My job will be to guide the discussion, but you all know me, I’m not short of opinions either."
