Cape Town – Game of Thrones is always a trending a topic after an episode of the popular show has aired.
Episode 4 of the final season trended for another reason – a rogue take-away cup was spotted during the celebrations after the Battle of Winterfell.
In the scene, Daenerys Targaryen played by Emilia Clarke is sitting at a long table with a glass in hand.
On the table was a very out of a place stray modern-day cardboard coffee cup which caught the attention of viewers immediately.
On Monday HBO released a light-hearted statement on Twitter: "News from Winterfell. The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. #Daenerys had ordered a herbal tea."

Art Director Hauke Richter sent an email to Variety saying that it was not uncommon for things to go unnoticed on set and end up in TV shows and movies
"Things can get forgotten on set. [The coffee cup error has been] so blown out of proportion [because] it has not happened with 'Thrones' so far," he wrote.
Executive producer Bernadette Caulfield apologised for the mistake in an interview with WYNC.
"Nowadays you can't believe what you see because people can put things into a photo that really doesn't exist. But I guess maybe it was there, I'm not sure. But, yeah. We're sorry! she said.

And to set the record straight, it was not a Starbucks coffee.
Hauke told TMZ that the coffee was from a local shop in Northern Ireland where they filmed.
This is not the first time a coffee cup made its way into Westeros . 9Gag shared a picture in which Jamie Lannister played Nikolaj Coster-Waldau can been seen holding a suspicious red cup in an earlier season.
