Emilia Clarke and 'Game of Thrones' creators respond to backlash after latest episode

Cape Town - Daenerys Targaryen has gone full 'Mad Queen,' and fans are not happy.

In Sunday's episode, 'The Bells,' Daenerys and her dragon burn King's Landing to ashes Many fans were disappointed with the decision to turn Emilia Clarke's character into a villain.

In the behind-the-scenes video of episode 5 Emilia, and director Miguel Sapochnik discussed the very emotional episode.

Miguel gave some insight into Dany's headspace before she burned the city to the ground: "She feels empty. It wasn't what she thought it was. It's not enough."

While Emilia added that Dany felt very alone in those moments.

"Every single thing that's led her to this point, and there she is alone. We've all got this part of us that goes, 'I'm going to put that chocolate cake down; I'm going to walk away.' We can't be getting into these moral conundrums all the time. I'm not saying chocolate cake is a moral conundrum — eat as much fucking cake as you want — but those things that you wrestle within yourself."
