Dave Bautista officially retires from wrestling: 'I'll miss this theatre of violence'

Cape Town - The WWE wrestler Dave Bautista has officially announced his retirement from professional wrestling after his defeat by Triple H at WrestleMania in New York on Sunday.

While Dave Bautista said goodbye, angry DStv subscribers complained about how SuperSport botched the Wrestlemania 35 broadcast by showing the results beforehand, cutting out large chunks and botching the playout during broadcast.

After Sunday's WrestleMania, Dave Bautista in a message wrote on Instagram "To all the WWE fans across the world that gave me the opportunity to suspend your disbelief, thank you."

The Guardians of the Galaxy actor said "From the biggest part of my heart thank you for letting me entertain you. Tonight was my storybook ending and I wanted to leave you with all I had to give."

"I'll miss this theatre of violence more than I can express in words but I am officially retiring from Sports Entertainment. I'm proud of what I've accomplished, I leave in great health, and without a doubt the show will go on. I had a hell of a run. Thank you for the journey."

Now retired from wrestling, Dave Bautista will be able to give his full attention to his acting career and will appear next on the big-screen in Avengers: Endgame releasing later this month, and is also set to appear again as Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
