Beach wedding crowned this year's wedding of the year on the Wedding Bashers

Cape Town – 15 weddings later the winning couple was announced on the season finale of The Wedding Bashers.

The top 5 weddings based on the celebrity bashers scores were: Megan and Jason's DIY beach wedding, Heather and Rafal’s elegant wedding in the town of Wakkerstroom, Janine and Xander's rose gold romance in Harties, Danielle and Mario's carnival theme wedding and Wes and Sue’s Winter Wonderland. This year the final decision was placed in the hands of the viewers. 

Port Alfred based Meg and Jason with their beach wedding won the best overall score from celebrity guests Bernelee Daniell, Zola Nene, Denise Zimba and Zavion Kotze – viewers agree with the Basher crowing the couple’s wedding the wedding of the year. 

The couple walked away with R250 000 cash from M-Net, R100 000 in jewellery from Jack Friedman and R80 000 five night second honeymoon to the Seychelles, courtesy of Constance Ephelia Seychelles and Air Seychelles.

The top 4 couples each also received R30 000 in jewellery from Jack Friedman.

Speaking about their win at a press conference, the couple was surprised and overwhelmed. 

Jason revealed that Meg only told him she entered them in for the show when M-Net confirmed they would be coming to film their wedding. 

On why she decided to enter them into the show Meg said she binge-watched the first season and thoroughly enjoyed it.

"When a friend of mine told me that there would be a second season of the show I thought why not and entered cause it would be fun," says Meg. 

As for the big cash prize the couple will use the money to pay back the wedding so that they can eventually buy a house.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE

Each couple had a great experience during filming of the show. 

"It was such an awesome experience having them there. We got to know the was crew the day before and we developed a really soft spot for them. We got to know them it was fun having them there it was like having a couple of more friends at the wedding," says Meg.

Speaking about the Top 5 weddings Zavion said he couldn't be more ecstatic by the weddings that made the top of the leader-board.

"They all deserve to be here," said the decor expert.

M-Net did not confirm whether they will be a third season of the popular show.
