Afrikaans crime drama Die Byl is back for a second season

Cape Town - Fourteen brand new nail biting episodes. A talented team behind and in front of the cameras. Yes, colonel Piet van der Bijl and his team are back for another series.

Die Byl follows the life and work of colonel Piet van Bijl, a brilliant detective who specialises in the tracking and arrest of serial killers. His whole life is focused on every little bit of detail and the pieces of the puzzle that won’t always fit. His personal life suffers because he is a workaholic, but he is a man who will do anything for the people close to him.

It is five years since we met Byl (Waldemar Schultz) and his team. Byl is still know as a super detective, but it was because of him that captain Juan Stuurman (Marvin Lee Beukes) resigned from the unit. Byl’s relationship with Nicki (Milan Murray) is on the rocks but at least he gets along better with general Neels van As (Tertius Meintjes).

Ellie Bonthuys (Barbara Marié Immelman), once a journalist only looking for sensationalism, is now the spokesperson of the SAPD. The team’s offices have had a makeover and in the lab Dr. Fritz Barnard (Eric Nobbs) has a new assistant, Dr. Shani van Rooi (Trudy van Rooy). Captain Lena Evans (Lika Berning) got married and is the mother of a young son. Carien van der Bijl (Rolanda Marais), Byl’s ex wife, is suddenly back on the scene.

In the second series of Die Byl there is not only a case per episode, but also two ongoing story lines that promise to keep viewers glued to their screens. Byl is confronted both physically and emotionally when his team becomes the target of a series of unexplained and upsetting situations.
