5 Travel wishes we’re making for after lockdown

accreditation

One of the many things that we have had to live without during the Covid-19 pandemic is travel. From a weekend trip with the crew to a week spent soaking up the sun beachside, there is so much to be missed about the simple ability to get out and explore.

With this yearning for travel in mind, Huawei is running a Wishlist competition until 30 April, where it will be granting the post-lockdown wishes of hundreds of lucky Huawei users on its Huawei AppGallery. “Huawei wants to support local businesses, as well as reward our users for staying home to help save our nation,” says Likun Zhao, Vice President of Huawei Consumer Business Group, Middle East & Africa. “We think our Wishlist campaign is a great way to help boost the spirits of South Africans, during a time when we are feeling uncertain and worried and give them something to look forward to.”

One of the top prizes you can win is a R12,000 travel voucher with Travelstart! With this in mind we started daydreaming about what we’d do if we won. Here are five locations we’re putting on our post-lockdown wish list.

1.       Zanzibar, Tanzania

Zanzibar’s crystal-clear waters and beach side resorts need no introduction. Fast-forward a few months and you could be floating around in this tropical paradise with an ocean breeze in your hair and Margaritas in the air. Another thing we just love about Zanzibar is that the direct flights from Johannesburg make it one of the most hassle-free escapes to a whole other world.

2.       Swakopmund, Namibia

Namibia is like that friendly lifelong neighbour that just bakes you bread and brings your beer whenever you need it. The understated gem of a country-next-door not only boasts with world famous desert landscapes, but also with some of the quaintest towns like Swakopmund. With its German-influence and delicious delicatessens, Swakopmund is a fun stop on any Namibia trip.

3.       Victoria Falls, Zambia

There are few places in the world that match the majesty of the Victoria Falls. From the gushing falls themselves to the crème de la crème of African wildlife, the Victoria Falls is one of those places that has been blessed with the best. Enjoying a golden sunset on the Zambezi at this prime location is high on our post-lockdown bucket list.

4.       Mauritius

Outdoor activities are another thing that we’ve had to say goodbye to during lockdown and there’s definitely a few fitness junkies who are itching to get out again. If you fall into that category, a six-day cycle trip through Mauritius might just do the trick. This trip not only boasts with the best of Mauritian views, but also gives you a chance to blow of some steam after weeks of being inside.

5.       Graskop, Mpumalanga

Huawei

While there are many beautiful places to visit, east or west, home is best. South Africa is renowned for being home to some of the most breath-taking landscapes in the world and we would love to explore more places on home soil. The Blyde River Canyon in Mpumalanga is one of these places that just look to good to pass up.

Whether you’d like to spread your wings across the border or explore South Africa a bit more, one of the above destinations could be just a stone’s throw away. All you have to do to stand a chance to win a getaway with Travelstart (or one of the many other prizes up for grabs) is click on the Travelstart, Makro, Takealot or Mango apps on your Huawei AppGallery and complete the form that pops up. T’s & C’s apply.
