Real Housewives of Johannesburg TV show executive producer, Sonia Mbele has expressed disappointment over what one of the cast members allegedly said to a tabloid newspaper. According to Sonia, one of the housewives claimed they had not been paid.
CLEARING THE AIR
This reality TV show has been airing every Friday night on 1Magic. The show’s viewers get to see how they live their day-to-day lives of luxury and all things ‘lavish and classy’ as they put it.
“I am shocked that one of the ladies actually went as far as telling a newspaper that they have not been paid. I mean we made it clear in the beginning, even in the contract that this is a social profiling show,” she says.
The show’s critics have been asking about the screening process of the show, Sonia says the ladies happen to be in the same social circles and had to go through a thorough screening process. Like with the original American show, the format of the show does not change. “We paid them excess fee months ago. We do not pay them every month, this is not a job,” Sonia says.
REPUTATION IN QUESTION
Sonia and her other business partners Rebone Sesing and Pebbles Gqunta own a Production Company called RHOSA have created something that excites them and that is doing extremely well.
“Now we are made to look like producers who don’t pay people, no,” she says. There has been a lot of hype around the show on all social media platforms. “Not only that, we’ve found that we’ve been getting a lot of requests to have the show on Mzansi Magic as soon as possible as most people are suffering from FOMO (fear of missing out). We’ve also had YouTube and Season 2 requests,” she says. Sonia doesn’t know who the lady in question is either.
