DJ Tira recently found out that someone was selling clothing and accessories using his brand, Afrotainment. The Durban based entertainer went on to social media to rant. “I’m so disappointed that the country I love so much has stolen my brand. I never gave anyone permission to manufacture Ezase Afro clothing, products.” He also made threats to the perpetrators, “Okusalayo kutanyiwa! (There will be hell to pay!) Mr Bheki Cele where are you?”

Move! reached out to Tira and he explained that the people who are selling his brand are promoters who were organising his birthday in ESwatini.

He further added that they took advantage of the fact that they had access to him. “These people were organising my birthday and had asked me to bring my own merchandise to sell at the event. I was shocked when I got to the event and they had brought their own merchandise with my brand on it because it wasn’t in our contract. Because it was my birthday I didn’t want to fight, I figured we would have the discussion afterwards. Now I see they are still selling the fake merchandise on social media without my consent,” he says.

The award-winning artist says that he has since had a conversation with the organisers and they have apologised and have promised to stop selling any of the items and will return the rest of what is left to him. “I will not be taking further legal action against them because of the conversation and agreement we had,” he concluded.
