Cape Town - Ever since he burst onto the South African rap scene a few years ago, Nasty C has been met with backlash from some music fans who claim that his accent sounds too American, little did they know that the rapper speaks isiZulu fluently and can even rap in it.

During an interview with DRUM last month, the 21-year-old was unapologetic about not rapping in vernacular even though he was often criticised for it.

“If I wasn’t as confident as I am, I would’ve quit a long time ago” he told DRUM.

“I had a lot of people bashing me, telling me I sound like I’m from the [United] States. They used to say I was fake,” he explained.

Taking to Twitter on Monday, the Hell Naw hit-maker shared a video of himself rapping a verse in isiZulu, much to the surprise of tweeps who found his IsiZulu punchlines to be just as lit as his English bars.

In the video, the rapper can be seen standing in front of a mirror while topless and spitting the Zulu bars. His freestyle is accompanied by his signature moves with the caption: “Ngyazama ak’fani (I’m not too bad at this) #StringsAndBling”.
