Cape Town – American rapper Juice Wrld, whose real name was Jarad Anthony Higgins, has died. He was 21 years old.
According to TMZ, the Bandit rapper was at Chicago Midway Airport when he suffered a seizure in the terminal after landing on Sunday morning. He was transported to a local hospital where he later confirmed to have died.
A Chicago Police Department spokesperson confirmed the news, though his death remains under investigation, reports E! News.
The rising star first broke out onto the scene with his hit Lucid Dreams. According to Forbes, the single reached number two on the Hot 100, before featuring on his mixtape 9 9 9 and his debut album Goodbye & Good Riddance.
This year, with the release of his second solo album Death Race for Love, Juice WRLD conquered charts again, and with the release of his hit Bandit, he returned to the Hot 100 top 10 in October.
The publication reports the rapper was planning on releasing new music later this month.
The rapper, who celebrated his 21st birthday less than a week ago, is survived by his mother and girlfriend.
He recently shared a post calling them "the two most beautiful important women in [his] life". "Angels on earth exist I know it," he wrote.
