Cape Town - Missy Elliot set to become the first female rapper to receive video vanguard award at the 2019 VMAs.
The iconic music producer and artist is also set to perform at the ceremony and accept the award.
It is not yet known what Missy will be performing at the music event however some of her most famous videos are: Work It and The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly).
Missy's most recent video is a collaboration with Lizzo, titled Tempo.

The Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award honours artists for their contributions to the world of music videos.
Past recipients include Madonna, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Kanye, Justin Timberlake, and Britney Spears.
The 2019 VMAs take place Monday, 26 August at the Prudential Centre in New Jersey.
Nominees include Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X.
