Meat Loaf no longer enjoys eating meat

Cape Town – Meatloaf, the man who would do "anything for love", is no longer a meat lover.

The singer was asked by restaurant chain Frankie & Benny's to rebrand himself as Veg Loaf – for what some have called Veganuary – but he insisted he won't do that.

In case you haven't heard of it before the Veganuary campaign asks people to give up meat and animal products for January.

In an interview with The Mirror, the artist, whose real name Marvin Lee Aday, said: "When Frankie & Benny's first approached me to rebrand to Veg Loaf I said no way in hell – I won't do that."

He added: "But, I'd do anything for our planet and dropping meat for veg, even for just one day a week, can make a huge difference."

In an interview with The Mirror, he spoke about a specifically intense moment at a dinner that turned him off meat.

He recounted: "I ordered rabbit and they served it with its head on, no ears and its eyes closed."

He went on: "I said, 'Take this away, and I want vegetables and a salad,' and from that moment I became vegetarian for maybe 11 years."
