Lizzo lands her first number one with anthemic hit 'Truth Hurts'

Cape Town – American singer and internet sensation Lizzo has officially scored her first number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with Truth Hurts.

According to Rated R&B, she's the first Black solo female R&B artist to earn that spot.

Billboard says that that the song rose from third place last week, after a rousing performance at the MTV VMAs 2019.

It's been an excellent week for the singer who performed at Jay-Z's Made in America festival on Sunday and even got Beyoncé grooving to her melodic hits.

In other music countdown news, Taylor Swift's new album Lover launched at number one on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

Lizzo's post about the number one celebrated her fans and touted a message of inclusivity.
