Cape Towwn - As the world continues to mourn the sudden death of Dolores O’Riordan, her longtime friend has revealed The Cranberries frontwoman (46) left him a voice message on his phone hours before she died yesterday morning.

“Dolores left me a voice message just after midnight last night stating how much she loved Bad Wolves’ [a rock band he manages] version of Zombie,” Dan Waite revealed in a statement to People.

“She was looking forward to seeing me in the studio and recording vocals,” Dan, the international managing director for hard rock record label, Eleven Seven, said of the singer’s remix of The Cranberries’ 1994 hit single with the hard rock band, Bad Wolves.

“She sounded full of life, was joking and excited to see me and my wife this week. The news of her passing is devastating and my thoughts are with Don her ex-husband, her children, and her mother,” he added.

The Irish star was scheduled to record her vocals in London on the day of her death.

She was found dead at around 09:00 on Monday morning at the London Hilton hotel. No reasons have yet been given for the cause of death, The Guardian reports.

The singer has admitted in the past to suffering from depression and last year she had to cancel a tour with a reunited Cranberries because of an ongoing back problem.

She leaves behind her ex-husband, Don Burton, a former tour manager to Duran Duran who went on to manage The Cranberries – and their three kids – Taylor Baxter (20), Molly Leigh (16) and Dakota Rain (12).

A statement by her publicist read: “Family members are devastated to hear the breaking news and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.”

Her bandmates – Noel and Mike Hogan and Fergal Lawler – posted a message on Twitter.
