Johannesburg - Demi Lovato cancelled her concert at London’s O2 Arena after doctors ordered her to rest.

Just hours before she was set to perform on Sunday, the 25-year-old singer took to Instagram to share a statement with her fans.

“I write this through tears of frustration and sadness that I have to postponed my concert tonight due to being very, very sick and with swollen vocal cords," Demi wrote.

“If I go on tonight and injure my vocal cords any more I could potentially have to cancel the rest of the tour.

“I’m so, so sorry to disappoint any of my fans in London that have travelled hours to be here by plane or car and to all of the fans that got these tickets for a special occasion.

“It breaks my heart to let you down. Just know I feel your frustration and I wouldn’t do this unless I absolutely had to.”

But all wasn’t doom and gloom as the Sorry Not Sorry singer also announced her rescheduled tour date.

“For everyone who bought a ticket to tonight’s show, I will see you for the rescheduled date on June 25th after Madrid and Rock In Rio.

“Thank you for understanding. I love you,” she wrote.

Demi’s fans took to social media to support the singer.

“I was looking forward to seeing you tonight but what's more important is that you're healthy and happy. I love you so much feel better soon!” one Twitter user said.

“I’m so sorry London fans, but what’s important is that Demi rests and gets better so that y’all can have the best show possible. Love you girl, hope you feel better soon,” another said.
