Bebe Rexha calls out lack of female representation on charts

Cape Town - Bebe Rexha has taken to social media to bemoan the disproportionate amount of men on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2020.

The Grammy-nominated singer aired her grievance on Twitter hoping to draw some attention to a recent tweet from the Billboard Charts account.

The tweet listed the "Most #Hot100 entries of 2020, so far," with names including Mac Miller, Eminem, the Jonas Brothers and Ed Sheeran. Of the 12 names on the list, only one - Camila Cabello - was a female artist.

Rexha tweeted: "Man man man man man woman man man man man man."

She added: "Thank god for Camilla. I'm like yes a female."

She then went on to clapback at haters, saying: "Don't come to me saying women should make better music, they need to get fair playlist on streaming and radio. You have Ariana [Grande], Halsey, Dua [Lipa], Demi [Lovato] so many more incredible females...Rosalia, Taylor [Swift], Camilla [sic] [Cabello], Cardi..... on and on and on."

Bebe Rexha - whose real name is Bleta Rexha - co-wrote Eminem's single The Monster and has also contributed songwriting to songs by Shinee, Selena Gomez, and Nick Jonas.
