Samuel L Jackson will play Chris Rock's dad in 'Saw' reboot

Cape Town - Samuel L. Jackson is set to star alongside Chris Rock in the upcoming re-imagining of the Saw franchise.

The Shaft actor will play the dad of Chris Rock's character, reports CNN.

According to Variety, Chris will play a police detective who is investigating a series of gruesome crimes.

Max Minghella (The Handmaid's Tale) will play Chris' partner, and Marisol Nichols (Riverdale) will play a police captain.

While the studio is keeping mum on finer plot details, it did reveal that the new movie will have a lot of suspense, clever clue and treacherous traps.

Darren Lynn Bousman who directed three of the seven films returns to helm the new movie.

The film is scheduled to be released in October 2020.
