Cape Town – For the first time since their Academy Award-winning work on Good Will Hunting in 1997, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are teaming up for Ridley Scott's The Last Duel.
Damon and Affleck are both writing the script with the help of Oscar-nominated writer and director, Nicole Holofcener, and will star as the leads in the revenge story.
According to Deadline, the film based on the novel of the same name by Eric Jager will follow the story of two best friends – a knight and a squire – in 14th century France. When the knight returns from war, the squire is accused of raping his wife while he was away. The two duel to the death, believing God will reveal the truth by sparing the winner, and if it turns out the wife was lying, she'd be burned at the stake.
Ridley Scott's Scott Free Productions and Damon and Affleck's Pearl Street Films will produce the film.
