Jim Carrey 'didn't like what was happening in Hollywood'

Cape Town - Canadian actor Jim Carrey has revealed he withdrew from the public eye because he "didn't like what was happening" in Hollywood.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter the actor said he just didn't want to be in the industry anymore and took a step out of the spotlight.

This year Carrey not only makes his return to the big screen but also the television screen, where he started out.

In Showtime’s new comedy-drama Kidding, he plays Jeff, aka Mr. Pickles, an icon of children's television, a beacon of kindness and wisdom to America's impressionable young minds, who also anchors a multimillion-dollar branding empire. (Read more here)

And in his first feature since 2014, Dark Crimes Carrey plays police officer named Tadek, who finds similarities between an unsolved murder and a crime outlined in a book by famed writer Krystov Kozlow (Martin Csokas). (Read more here)

About his return, Carrey says he is "not back the same way".

"I don't feel I'm little Jim trying to hang on to a place in the stratosphere anymore — I don't feel like I'm trying to hold on to anything," he told the publication.
