James Cameron congratulates new box-office king 'Avengers'

Cape Town – Avengers: Endgame has now officially passed Avatar as the highest-grossing movie of all-time.

The Marvel film is now at $2.79 billion worldwide compared to Avatar's $2.789 billion.

On Monday director James Cameron took to Twitter to congratulate the studio. Alongside a photo of Iron Man with wood sprites found on 'Avatar's' fictional planet he wrote: "Oel ngati kameie, I see you, Marvel. Congratulations on becoming the new box-office king."

James' two films Avatar and Titanic now take the number 2 and 3 spots respectively for the highest-grossing movies of all time.

Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, announced on Saturday during San Diego Comic-Con that there will not be an Avengers movie in Phase Four.

He went on to say that Avengers: Endgame was an ending for many of the characters and that they are now focused on new beginnings.

Kevin said: "Phase 4 is about learning new things about characters you already think you know like Widow meeting incredible characters like the Eternals and Shang-Chi, going on new adventures with Doctor Strange and Thor," according to Screen Rant.
