Filming on 'Fast & Furious 9' halts after stuntman is seriously injured

Cape Town – Tragedy has struck the set of Fast & Furious 9 after a stuntman was injured in a fall.

Deadline reports that filming was stopped on Monday at the Leavesden studios in the UK.

A spokesperson from the studio confirmed the incident saying: "We had an injury on the set of Fast 9 today in Leavesden with one of our stuntmen. We have halted production for the day to focus on this situation."

According to Fox News police and paramedics, were called before noon to the studio where a man with a serious head injury was rushed to hospital by air ambulance.

The man's condition is not yet known.

The local Hertfordshire Police said in a statement: "Police were called shortly before noon today following an incident at Warner Bros Studios in Leavesden, Hertfordshire."

A spokesman for East of England Ambulance Service to the DailyMail that an ambulance, three ambulance officer vehicles and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were called to Leavesden Studios before noon following reports of a man injured in a fall.

"One patient with a serious head injury was transported to the Royal London Hospital by air ambulance."

No other details have been revealed.

Filming for the ninth instalment in the popular franchise kicked off in June.
