'Fast & Furious' stuntman in coma after serious head injury on set

Cape Town – Filming of Fast & Furious 9 resumed on Tuesday following an incident in which a stuntman was seriously injured.

Joe Watts was airlifted to hospital after sustaining a severe head injury after a fall.

According to Variety, Joe has been placed in an induced coma.

In a since deleted post his fiancée, Tilly Powell, wrote on Facebook that he suffered a serious head injury and is in an induced coma. She added that he is stable and is being monitored, reports Sky News.

Joe has appeared in several high profile films including Spider-Man: Far From Home, Game of Thrones, Johnny English Strikes Again, Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Kingsman: The Golden Circle.

Joe also works as a teacher reports BBC News.

The accident is being investigated by the UK agency responsible for workplace safety.
