Every year to mark their birthdays Prince William and Kate Middleton share new sets of portraits of the royal children. Ahead of Prince Louis's second birthday on Thursday, 23 April, new photos of the youngest Cambridge kid was released – and let me tell you, they are adorable!

"Sharing a sneak peek of Prince Louis's handiwork ahead of his second birthday!" the Kensington Royal Instagram account wrote alongside photographs taken by Kate showing a more artistic side to the young royal whose hands are covered in paint.

The royals later shared an all-too-relatable "Instagram vs Reality" post to thank everyone for their warm wishes on Louis' birthday.

According to People, Louis' rainbow artwork symbolises support for the UK's National Health Service workers as they continue to fight the coronavirus.

Prince William and Kate are currently self-isolating together at Anmer Hall in Norfolk, where they are also homeschooling their two older kids, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, through online learning platforms, reports HELLO! Magazine.

Kate has expressed that she hopes that when the children get older, they'll remember the little moments they shared as a family, and that's what's led her to become such a hands-on mom that both does homework with the kids, and also goes outside, plays, and takes pictures.

In a podcast with Giovanna Fletcher in February she said: "Someone did ask me the other day, what would you want your children to remember about their childhood? And I thought that was a really good question because actually, if you really think about that, is it that I'm sitting down trying to do their maths and spelling homework over the weekend? Or is it the fact that we've gone out and lit a bonfire and sat around trying to cook sausages that hasn't worked because it's too wet?

"That's what I would want them to remember, those moments with me as a mother, but also the family going to the beach, getting soaking wet, filling our boots full of water, those are what I would want them to remember. Not a stressful household where you're trying to do everything and not really succeeding at one thing."
